this year
This Blog – couchsurfingat70 – got its start sometime in 2018. In January of 2021, the 22nd to be specific, the commitment to post every weekday, Monday through Friday, fell out onto this page, and I’m happy to say that’s the way it’s gone. No missed days. Now, here’s another year, and I’m especially happy to note I’m still here, waking up, getting up, giggling even when you can’t see it, and strolling along. Laura Nyro might say I’m surreying. I like that.
This year I’ve been visited by New Year’s resolutions. Spirits. They’ve shown up and I’ve bowed to them, and they’re all written in a new, possibly magical, notebook. I cannot remember the last time I made resolutions to begin a new year – seven years ago? 27? 57? Been a while. Yet this year a whole handful – actually more than two handfuls – have waved to get my attention, “Make me part of your life” is what I’ve heard with all my senses. Heard with my eyes and fingers and my heart. And that is what I have vowed to do.
I’m pretty sure one or maybe five, perhaps 11, will show up here in this Blog sooner or later. How could it be otherwise? Torei Zenji, in his Bodhisattva’s Vow, said, “Things can’t help but shine with this light.”
It’s like that.
