morrow bay buddhas
9/9 — Off to Morrow Bay early, under lifting fog and marine layer. Found our way out to the Morrow Bay rock, passing a host of seals on rocks and water-level piers, and floating-on-their-back sea otters along the path. Ann bought me a very cool ‘Surf Morrow Bay’ t-shirt, it’s quite lovely. I bought her a small bag of salt water taffy. She said it was yummy.

Back to town and into Coalesce Books. Ann bought her grandson a box of artsy ideas of cool projects and brain-expanders. I bought a copy of “A Handbook For Fiction Writers” by the legendary author Lawrence Block. Used, six bucks. We walked Morrow Bay’s two small t-piers, had lunch from a pretty hip place out in the sidewalk sun. And on back to Cayucos and a coffee in the flowery backyard of ‘Luna Coffee.’

Brief room respite followed by another walk on the pier, and through the streets of the village. After our return, Ann stayed in the room to read while I went out and solo’d a ride on the swings on the beach. Then I walked along the shore, sandpipers for company, earth and rock cliffs holding the fortunate seaside homes up high on the bluff.
