the eyes have it

My meditations this morning were wild with projections, and fortunately after a long while I was able to shine a light on them and grin a little at my persistent follies. Breath an ‘easy does it’ into this morning’s path. Man, is it hot in San Diego, and our first destination on the coast-line, bookstore journey tomorrow is projected at 105 degrees. Ojai. A Zen Koan says, in effect, “When it is hot let the heat kill you,” the “kill” being wild acceptance of “This is just the way it is, kid.” To which I can add, savor the gratitude of still being here to experience it. Like George Harrison sang – “I don’t need your wah-wah.” As in, note to self. On the coming crazy wondrous journey up the coast surrounded by bushels of dancing books.

And that rather brakeless writing of the next arriving thought is going to be the final post here before a week off. I’ll take notes and photos, and hopefully have Couch Surfing experiences worth your time and attention when – the creek don’t rise and there ain’t no meltdown – we return.

Last night my boss texted me and said, “I appreciate you.” In a few hours I have a dilated-opthamology appointment from which, they say, I won’t be driving for a while. Early tomorrow we head up the California coast. I’m mostly packed, and hoping to water the plants before heading off to the exam in a bit. Even with a short stroll out into the morning dew.

Be well. We get to “carpe diem” again.
