attention elsewhere

Yesterday was a most interesting day. I was offered a job by the Channel Islands YMCA San Luis Obispo branch as a “Membership Engagement Specialist.” Kind of a front desk, “Hey, how’s it going?” welcoming person, probably a little more technical than that. Paperwork, trainings, and get started June 9 or thereabouts. Very part-time, 13.5 hours a week when I’m cranking out the minutes – my request. I received references from six folks past/now in my life and it was made clear during the offer that the references played a big part in me receiving a “Yes.” I’ve been reaching out to those folks with the most genuine thanks.

Off on one of those lazy morning walks I found my way to the gate and trails of Cerro San Luis (Mount Madonna), one of the “Seven Sisters” volcanic plugs between here and the shore of the Pacific at Morro Rock. This one with cows grazing all over. Yay cows. I hiked a lot of it twice during the day, took a zillion pictures which I’ll share in different places. My son Spenser called while I was way up there. The city is so lovely from up that high.

When I left the hiking and cows for the second time, I turned right onto the highway south instead of back through town and cruised the 101 all the way down to the Avila Beach exit. That I took and spent another sweet hour on the pier there and walking above the beach.

Something’s missing in this post. Hmmm. Happy Friday.
