When I was maybe six I rode with my family on the train at the Edaville Railroad, a theme-parky place amidst cranberry bogs in Carver, Massachusetts, the next town. Otherwise I have never traveled on a train. Something of a life deficit.
The Surfliner line of Amtrak, which gets its start in San Diego, ends here in San Luis Obispo – or begins here. I went into the station Wednesday and learned that a round-trip ticket to Santa Barbara cost approximately $80 (the exact cost dependent on the degree of ridership.) This is not in my presently out-of-work budget. I would like to sell you $80 worth of my books – see them at 148curiousthings.com – or accept any donation in the support of couchsurfingat70’s ongoing webhosting and rent expenses. Another reason to mail me something.
Such a kind and generous donation will earn you a mailed, personal, hand-written tale of my first railroad journey. Probably doodles too.
