actually

I don’t go out to movies or disco dancing. Rent takes more than all my money. Though sometimes there seems to be enough for books and coffee and a limited selection of food. The lop-sided recliner I rejoice in I paid $50 for two years ago in Golden Hill, and I have splashed and dripped so much coffee on it within those 24 months – well, it’s not the same chair anymore.

Recently I invested a little money in new plastic pots, and re-planted three house plants. They grace this space where the Blog materializes, the recliner morphs. Where 70 or 80 books forever wave their hands – Pick me! Pick me! Where only one of the good-quality computer speakers I bought back in Oakland in 2007 still works, YouTube stereo just a dream. Just a dream.

I work four days a week now, here at rapidly approaching 75, and today it’s with a 31-year-old young woman at the People’s Food Co-op in Ocean Beach. Some of that’s the rent thing. Some’s playing my part in the day.

Actually, I’m trying to talk less lately.
