an old kentucky home

This morning a chilly breeze blew in through the open kitchen window while I was preparing coffee. Yesterday I walked to the library and checked out the movie, “a good year,” because it’s gentle and sweet. In a zoomed Zen Koan group in Kentucky yesterday afternoon, the Roshi said, “Fall into the world.” Quite like the message in the Little Richard documentary I watched two nights ago – Hold nothing back.

It may shower today, and Ann’s away, and I need to buy laundry detergent for the first time in a couple of years. The music group ‘X’ has a line in one of its songs – “The world’s a mess, it’s in my kiss.” I’ll be in a place today where this question will be asked – “Who’s willing to help?” I’m going to raise my hand. My Friday kiss.

The Zen Koan under discussion in Kentucky yesterday? — Layman Pang was coming down off a bridge and fell. His daughter Lingzhao fell down beside him. The Layman asked, “What are you doing?” Lingzhao answered, “I saw you fall so I’m helping.” The Koan ends with the Layman saying, “Luckily no one was looking.” That “no one” including the Layman and his daughter.

The world’s a mess, it’s in my kiss.
