four friendly kids
I have decided to create a four-person advisory council. Most of the members don’t know it yet. Notification is imminent.
It’s become clear to me I’m in need of boundless advice on the forward movement of my life. To the point, if I’m being real, of what clothes I should wear each day I’m lucky enough to feel my toes touch the floor again. I’ll probably hang on to that for myself. Bigger stuff is what I have in mind, and it doesn’t feel like I’ll be asking my advisory members a whole lot, mostly technical kinds of things advice.
I work four days a week with folks who are labeled as having “disabilities” and when I show up at one place or the other my only thought is to see if I may be of help as they walk the paths of their own lives. I don’t like being told what to do, and I’m not telling anyone else what they should do. It’s simply, “Is there something I can help with?”
I’m thinking my advisory counselors are going to help me like that as I ask for their help.
