friday so far
Fridays have their own agendas for me these days. Agendas not opposed to spontaneity, while holding out their welcoming arms to say, “I got you.” It feels good to be gotten by Fridays. Another opportunity for gratitude. And another. And another.
I’m grateful – I’m thrilled – I woke up again this morning, another chance to do my “asking for help” ritual thing, me the “askee” wondering which of the “askers” will show up. It sort of feels like it was Sylvester Stewart a while ago. He of “Everybody is a Star”, and “Hot Fun in the Summertime”, and “Different Strokes for Different Folks.” Yeah, sometimes it’s him showing up and I’m asking for help with being wide open to all the offers from the day. Like today, Friday.
There’s an old song which went “Monday I have Friday on my mind.” Lately that’s come to me remembering sitting in a junior class at Wareham High School, Monday morning, say second or third period, wondering who I could find to buy for me Friday night. Beers. Nowadays when I get a Friday, Monday’s feel as far away as a “Kalpa.” If you look that word up, you’ll see it’s pretty cool. And pretty far.
This Blog space takes Saturdays and Sundays off. Who knows, maybe it’s got Monday on its mind. Such grand questions are exciting, and generally beyond my understandings. That’s alright. It’s just me, so far today, being an everyday people.
Love that song. The Easybeats (an Australian band). Especially the hesitation in the line: “Coming Tuesday I feel better. Even my old man looks…good.”
They don’t make ’em like that anymore!
Cool comment. Thanks.
