route 28 rolls on

I believe my two favorite high schools in Massachusetts are my hometown’s Wareham High School, from which I graduated in the Summer of Love, and North Reading High School, up there north of Boston, where I was priviledged and fortunate through a cool job to meet and hang out with a number of quite interesting kids – including a few weirdos and rejects in the eyes of their classmates, possibly in their own eyes as well – each teachers for me in my life at 35 and 36. Two of those kids taught me the saying, “Oh my head!”, which has become a life-long comfort and important part of my personal lingo.

I thrived there, at No. Reading, in my little office space in the guidance department, offering something like help, and I’d like to believe, hope. I guess I thrived at Wareham High too, though I’d do most everything there differently, given the chance. I got to know the Principals of each school some. And it’s fun to point out that Route 28 runs along through both towns as part of its – and my – journey, from Ossipee, New Hampshire to the Orleans rotary, far out on Cape Cod.

If it’s a wonder to still spend so much time in my head living with different high school days, here on the cusp of 75, I’m just another one of those weirdos, forever grateful as such, thinking “Oh my head” regards this and that, banging out Blog posts five days a week.
