watching it roll
I have a number of times in this blog referred to the Zen teacher Joan Sutherland and her comment of, “The willingness to not flee.” I’ve moved very close to that not-fleeing place and space these last number of years, an image of sitting before a mirror and staying – no matter what.
Then one day ‘Leaving’ knocks on the door and says, “Come on soldier, it’s time to go.” And, it turns out, going is all there is.
But, you know what? For me it’s the same old mirror. And, it also turns out, there’s being present with the not staying. Not leaving the leaving. I guess, not fleeing the fleeing. John Lennon’s “Watching the world go round.” This is how I am within how it is, right now. I’m here to see it all, to be it all.
“Decorate your own heart, for the Buddha is nowhere else.”
